พระเยซูทรงประสูติในหมู่บ้านเบธเลเฮม (มธ 1:18-25; 2:1)
2:1 อยู่มาคราวนั้น มีรับสั่งจากซีซาร์ ออกัสตัส ให้จดทะเบียนสำมะโนครัวทั่วทั้งแผ่นดิน

Jesus Born in Bethlehem (Matt. 1:18-25; 2:1)
2:1 And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus, that all the world should be taxed.

2:2 (นี่เป็นครั้งแรกที่ได้จดทะเบียนสำมะโนครัว เมื่อคีรินิอัสเป็นเจ้าเมืองซีเรีย)

2:2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

2:3 คนทั้งปวงต่างคนต่างได้ไปขึ้นทะเบียนยังเมืองของตน

2:3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

2:4 ฝ่ายโยเซฟก็ขึ้นไปจากเมืองนาซาเร็ธแคว้นกาลิลีถึงเมืองของดาวิด ชื่อเบธเลเฮมแคว้นยูเดียด้วย (เพราะว่าเขาเป็นวงศ์วานและเชื้อสายของดาวิด)

2:4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

2:5 เขาได้ไปกับมารีย์ที่เขาได้หมั้นไว้แล้ว เพื่อจะขึ้นทะเบียนและนางมีครรภ์

2:5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

2:6 เมื่อเขาทั้งสองยังอยู่ที่นั่น ก็ถึงเวลาที่มารีย์จะประสูติบุตร

2:6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

2:7 นางจึงประสูติบุตรชายหัวปี เอาผ้าอ้อมพันและวางไว้ในรางหญ้า เพราะว่าไม่มีที่ว่างให้เขาในโรงแรม

2:7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

ทูตสวรรค์ประกาศแก่พวกผู้เลี้ยงแกะ
2:8 ในแถบนั้น มีคนเลี้ยงแกะอยู่ในทุ่งนา เฝ้าฝูงแกะของเขาในเวลากลางคืน

Angel's Announcement to Shepherds
2:8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

2:9 ดูเถิด มีทูตสวรรค์ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้ามาปรากฏแก่เขา และรัศมีขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าส่องล้อมรอบเขา และเขากลัวนัก

2:9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

2:10 ฝ่ายทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้นกล่าวแก่เขาว่า “อย่ากลัวเลย เพราะดูเถิด เรานำข่าวดีมายังท่านทั้งหลาย คือความปรีดียิ่งซึ่งจะมาถึงคนทั้งปวง

2:10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

2:11 เพราะว่าในวันนี้พระผู้ช่วยให้รอดของท่านทั้งหลาย คือพระคริสต์เจ้า มาบังเกิดที่เมืองดาวิด

2:11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

2:12 นี่จะเป็นหมายสำคัญแก่ท่านทั้งหลาย คือท่านจะได้พบพระกุมารนั้นพันผ้าอ้อมนอนอยู่ในรางหญ้า”

2:12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

2:13 ทันใดนั้น มีชาวสวรรค์หมู่หนึ่งมาอยู่กับทูตสวรรค์องค์นั้นร่วมสรรเสริญพระเจ้าว่า

2:13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

2:14 “รัศมีภาพจงมีแด่พระเจ้าในที่สูงสุด และบนแผ่นดินโลกสันติสุขจงมีท่ามกลางมนุษย์ทั้งปวงซึ่งทรงโปรดปรานนั้น”

2:14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

2:15 ต่อมาเมื่อทูตสวรรค์เหล่านั้นไปจากเขาขึ้นสู่สวรรค์แล้ว พวกเลี้ยงแกะได้พูดกันว่า “บัดนี้ให้เราไปยังเมืองเบธเลเฮม ดูเหตุการณ์ที่เกิดขึ้นนั้น ซึ่งองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าได้ทรงแจ้งแก่เรา”

2:15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

2:16 เขาก็รีบไปแล้วพบนางมารีย์กับโยเซฟและพบพระกุมารนั้นนอนอยู่ในรางหญ้า

2:16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

2:17 ครั้นเขาได้เห็นแล้ว จึงเล่าเรื่องซึ่งเขาได้ยินถึงพระกุมารนั้น

2:17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

2:18 คนทั้งปวงที่ได้ยินก็ประหลาดใจด้วยเนื้อความที่คนเลี้ยงแกะได้บอกแก่เขา

2:18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

2:19 ฝ่ายนางมารีย์ก็เก็บบรรดาสิ่งเหล่านี้ไว้ในใจ และรำพึงอยู่

2:19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

2:20 คนเลี้ยงแกะจึงกลับไปยกย่องสรรเสริญพระเจ้า เพราะเหตุการณ์ทั้งปวงซึ่งเขาได้ยินและได้เห็น ดังได้กล่าวไว้แก่เขาแล้ว

2:20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

พระกุมารเยซูทรงเข้าสุหนัต (ลก 1:59)
2:21 ครั้นครบแปดวันแล้ว เป็นวันให้พระกุมารนั้นเข้าสุหนัต เขาจึงให้นามว่า เยซู ตามซึ่งทูตสวรรค์ได้กล่าวไว้ก่อนยังมิได้ปฏิสนธิในครรภ์

Baby Jesus Circumcised (Luke 1:59)
2:21 And when eight days were accomplished for the circumcising of the child, his name was called JESUS, which was so named of the angel before he was conceived in the womb.

2:22 เมื่อวันทำพิธีชำระตัวของนางมารีย์ตามพระราชบัญญัติของโมเสสเสร็จลงแล้ว เขาทั้งหลายจึงนำพระกุมารไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มจะถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

2:22 And when the days of her purification according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

2:23 (ตามที่เขียนไว้แล้วในพระราชบัญญัติขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าว่า “บุตรชายทุกคนที่เบิกครรภ์ครั้งแรก จะได้เรียกว่าเป็นผู้บริสุทธิ์ถวายแด่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า”)

2:23 (As it is written in the law of the Lord, Every male that openeth the womb shall be called holy to the Lord;)

2:24 และถวายเครื่องบูชาตามที่ได้ตรัสสั่งไว้แล้วในพระราชบัญญัติขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าคือ ‘นกเขาคู่หนึ่ง หรือนกพิราบหนุ่มสองตัว’

2:24 And to offer a sacrifice according to that which is said in the law of the Lord, A pair of turtledoves, or two young pigeons.

สิเมโอนผู้ชรากับพระกุมารเยซู
2:25 ดูเถิด มีชายคนหนึ่งในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มชื่อสิเมโอน เป็นคนชอบธรรมและเกรงกลัวพระเจ้า และคอยเวลาซึ่งพวกอิสราเอลจะได้รับความบรรเทาทุกข์ และพระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ทรงสถิตกับท่าน

Aged Simeon and Baby Jesus
2:25 And, behold, there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon; and the same man was just and devout, waiting for the consolation of Israel: and the Holy Ghost was upon him.

2:26 พระวิญญาณบริสุทธิ์ได้ทรงสำแดงแก่ท่านว่า ท่านจะไม่ตายจนกว่าจะได้เห็นพระคริสต์ขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า

2:26 And it was revealed unto him by the Holy Ghost, that he should not see death, before he had seen the Lord's Christ.

2:27 สิเมโอนเข้าไปในพระวิหารโดยพระวิญญาณทรงนำ และเมื่อบิดามารดาได้นำพระกุมารเยซูเข้าไป เพื่อจะกระทำแก่พระกุมารตามธรรมเนียมแห่งพระราชบัญญัติ

2:27 And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law,

2:28 สิเมโอนจึงอุ้มพระกุมาร และสรรเสริญพระเจ้าว่า

2:28 Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,

2:29 “ข้าแต่องค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้า บัดนี้พระองค์ทรงให้ผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์ไปเป็นสุขตามพระดำรัสของพระองค์

2:29 Lord, now lettest thou thy servant depart in peace, according to thy word:

2:30 เพราะว่าตาของข้าพระองค์ได้เห็นความรอดของพระองค์แล้ว

2:30 For mine eyes have seen thy salvation,

2:31 ซึ่งพระองค์ได้ทรงจัดเตรียมไว้ต่อหน้าบรรดาชนชาติทั้งหลาย

2:31 Which thou hast prepared before the face of all people;

2:32 เป็นความสว่างส่องแสงแก่คนต่างชาติและเป็นสง่าราศีของพวกอิสราเอล ชนชาติของพระองค์”

2:32 A light to lighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

2:33 ฝ่ายโยเซฟกับมารดาของพระกุมารก็ประหลาดใจ เพราะถ้อยคำซึ่งท่านได้กล่าวถึงพระกุมารนั้น

2:33 And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

2:34 แล้วสิเมโอนก็อวยพรแก่เขา แล้วกล่าวแก่นางมารีย์มารดาของพระกุมารนั้นว่า “ดูก่อนท่าน ทรงตั้งพระกุมารนี้ไว้เป็นเหตุให้หลายคนในพวกอิสราเอลล้มลงหรือยกตั้งขึ้น และจะเป็นหมายสำคัญซึ่งคนปฏิเสธ

2:34 And Simeon blessed them, and said unto Mary his mother, Behold, this child is set for the fall and rising again of many in Israel; and for a sign which shall be spoken against;

2:35 เพื่อความคิดในใจของคนเป็นอันมากจะได้ปรากฏแจ้ง (เออ ถึงจิตใจของท่านเองก็ยังจะถูกดาบแทงทะลุด้วย)”

2:35 (Yea, a sword shall pierce through thy own soul also,) that the thoughts of many hearts may be revealed.

นางอันนาหญิงผู้พยากรณ์
2:36 ยังมีผู้พยากรณ์หญิงคนหนึ่งชื่ออันนา บุตรสาวฟานูเอลในตระกูลอาเชอร์ นางเป็นคนชรามากแล้ว มีสามีตั้งแต่ยังเป็นสาวพรหมจารีอยู่ และอยู่ด้วยกันเจ็ดปี

Anna the Prophetess
2:36 And there was one Anna, a prophetess, the daughter of Phanuel, of the tribe of Aser: she was of a great age, and had lived with an husband seven years from her virginity;

2:37 แล้วก็เป็นม่ายมาจนถึงอายุแปดสิบสี่ปี นางมิได้ไปจากพระวิหารเลย อยู่รับใช้พระเจ้าด้วยการถืออดอาหารและอธิษฐาน ทั้งกลางวันกลางคืน

2:37 And she was a widow of about fourscore and four years, which departed not from the temple, but served God with fastings and prayers night and day.

2:38 ในขณะนั้นผู้หญิงคนนี้ก็เข้ามาขอบพระคุณองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเช่นกัน และกล่าวถึงพระกุมารให้คนทั้งปวงที่คอยการทรงไถ่อยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็มฟัง

2:38 And she coming in that instant gave thanks likewise unto the Lord, and spake of him to all them that looked for redemption in Jerusalem.

ทั้งครอบครัวกลับไปยังเมืองนาซาเร็ธ
2:39 ครั้นโยเซฟกับนางมารีย์ได้กระทำการทั้งปวงตามพระราชบัญญัติขององค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าเสร็จแล้ว จึงกลับไปถึงนาซาเร็ธเมืองของตนในแคว้นกาลิลี

Family Returns to Nazareth
2:39 And when they had performed all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city Nazareth.

2:40 พระกุมารนั้นก็เจริญวัย และเข้มแข็งขึ้นฝ่ายจิตวิญญาณ ประกอบด้วยสติปัญญา และพระคุณของพระเจ้าอยู่กับท่าน

2:40 And the child grew, and waxed strong in spirit, filled with wisdom: and the grace of God was upon him.

พระเยซูเมื่ออายุสิบสองพรรษาทรงเยี่ยมกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม
2:41 ฝ่ายบิดามารดาเคยขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มในการเลี้ยงเทศกาลปัสกาทุกปีๆ

Twelve Year Old Jesus Visit Jerusalem
2:41 Now his parents went to Jerusalem every year at the feast of the passover.

2:42 เมื่อพระกุมารมีพระชนมายุสิบสองพรรษา เขาทั้งหลายก็ขึ้นไปยังกรุงเยรูซาเล็มตามธรรมเนียมการเลี้ยงนั้น

2:42 And when he was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem after the custom of the feast.

2:43 เมื่อครบกำหนดวันเลี้ยงกันแล้ว ขณะเขากำลังกลับไป พระกุมารเยซูก็ยังค้างอยู่ในกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม ฝ่ายโยเซฟกับมารดาของพระองค์ก็ไม่รู้

2:43 And when they had fulfilled the days, as they returned, the child Jesus tarried behind in Jerusalem; and Joseph and his mother knew not of it.

2:44 แต่เพราะเขาทั้งสองคิดว่าพระกุมารนั้นอยู่ในหมู่คนที่มาด้วยกัน เขาจึงเดินทางไปได้วันหนึ่ง แล้วหาพระกุมารในหมู่ญาติพี่น้องและพวกคนที่รู้จักกัน

2:44 But they, supposing him to have been in the company, went a day's journey; and they sought him among their kinsfolk and acquaintance.

2:45 เมื่อไม่พบ พวกเขาจึงกลับไปเที่ยวหาพระองค์ที่กรุงเยรูซาเล็ม

2:45 And when they found him not, they turned back again to Jerusalem, seeking him.

2:46 ต่อมาครั้นหามาได้สามวันแล้ว จึงพบพระกุมารนั่งอยู่ในพระวิหารท่ามกลางพวกอาจารย์ ฟังและไต่ถามพวกอาจารย์เหล่านั้นอยู่

2:46 And it came to pass, that after three days they found him in the temple, sitting in the midst of the doctors, both hearing them, and asking them questions.

2:47 คนทั้งปวงที่ได้ยินก็ประหลาดใจในสติปัญญาและคำตอบของพระกุมารนั้น

2:47 And all that heard him were astonished at his understanding and answers.

2:48 ฝ่ายเขาทั้งสองเมื่อเห็นพระกุมารแล้วก็ประหลาดใจ มารดาจึงถามพระกุมารว่า “ลูกเอ๋ย ทำไมจึงทำแก่เราอย่างนี้ ดูเถิด พ่อกับแม่แสวงหาเป็นทุกข์นัก”

2:48 And when they saw him, they were amazed: and his mother said unto him, Son, why hast thou thus dealt with us? behold, thy father and I have sought thee sorrowing.

2:49 พระกุมารจึงตอบเขาทั้งสองว่า “ท่านเที่ยวหาฉันทำไม ท่านไม่ทราบหรือว่า ฉันต้องกระทำพระราชกิจแห่งพระบิดาของฉัน”

2:49 And he said unto them, How is it that ye sought me? wist ye not that I must be about my Father's business?

2:50 เขาทั้งสองก็ไม่เข้าใจคำซึ่งพระกุมารกล่าวแก่เขา

2:50 And they understood not the saying which he spake unto them.

2:51 แล้วพระกุมารก็ลงไปกับเขาไปยังเมืองนาซาเร็ธ อยู่ใต้ความปกครองของเขา มารดาก็เก็บเรื่องราวทั้งหมดนั้นไว้ในใจ

2:51 And he went down with them, and came to Nazareth, and was subject unto them: but his mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

2:52 พระเยซูก็ได้จำเริญขึ้นในด้านสติปัญญา ในด้านร่างกาย และเป็นที่ชอบจำเพาะพระเจ้า และต่อหน้าคนทั้งปวงด้วย

2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
