คุณสมบัติของผู้ปกครองดูแล
3:1 คำนี้เป็นคำจริง คือว่าถ้าชายคนใดปรารถนาหน้าที่ศิษยาภิบาล คนนั้นก็ปรารถนากิจการงานที่ประเสริฐ

Qualifications of Bishops
3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

3:2 ศิษยาภิบาลนั้นจึงต้องเป็นคนที่ไม่มีใครติได้ เป็นสามีของหญิงคนเดียว เป็นคนรอบคอบ เป็นคนรู้จักประมาณตน เป็นคนมีความประพฤติดี มีอัชฌาสัยรับแขกดี เหมาะที่จะเป็นครู

3:2 A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

3:3 ไม่ดื่มเหล้าองุ่น ไม่เป็นนักเลง ไม่เป็นคนโลภมักได้ แต่เป็นคนสุภาพ ไม่เป็นคนชอบวิวาท ไม่เป็นคนเห็นแก่เงิน

3:3 Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;

3:4 ต้องเป็นคนครอบครองบ้านเรือนของตนได้ดี บังคับบัญชาบุตรทั้งหลายของตนด้วยความสง่าผ่าเผยทุกอย่าง

3:4 One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;

3:5 (เพราะว่าถ้าชายคนใดไม่รู้จักครอบครองบ้านเรือนของตน คนนั้นจะดูแลคริสตจักรของพระเจ้าอย่างไรได้)

3:5 (For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)

3:6 อย่าให้ผู้ที่กลับใจใหม่ๆเป็นศิษยาภิบาล เกรงว่าเขาอาจจะเย่อหยิ่ง และก็จะถูกปรับโทษเหมือนอย่างพญามาร

3:6 Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

3:7 นอกนั้นเขาจะต้องมีชื่อเสียงดีในคนภายนอก เกรงว่าเขาจะเป็นที่ติเตียน และจะติดบ่วงแร้วของพญามาร

3:7 Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

คุณสมบัติของผู้ช่วย
3:8 ฝ่ายผู้ช่วยนั้นก็เช่นเดียวกัน คือต้องเป็นคนสง่าผ่าเผย ไม่เป็นคนสองลิ้น ไม่สนใจเหล้าองุ่นมาก ไม่เป็นคนโลภมักได้

Qualifications of Deacons
3:8 Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;

3:9 และเป็นคนยึดมั่นในข้อลึกลับแห่งความเชื่อด้วยจิตสำนึกผิดและชอบอันบริสุทธิ์

3:9 Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.

3:10 จงลองดูคนเหล่านี้เสียก่อนด้วย และเมื่อเห็นว่าไม่มีข้อตำหนิแล้ว จึงตั้งเขาไว้ในตำแหน่งผู้ช่วย

3:10 And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.

3:11 ฝ่ายพวกภรรยาของเขาก็เหมือนกัน ต้องเป็นคนสง่าผ่าเผย ไม่ใส่ร้ายผู้อื่น เป็นคนรู้จักประมาณตน และเป็นคนสัตย์ซื่อในสิ่งทั้งปวง

3:11 Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.

3:12 จงให้ผู้ช่วยนั้นเป็นสามีของหญิงคนเดียว และบังคับบัญชาบุตรของตน และปกครองบ้านเรือนของตนได้ดี

3:12 Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.

3:13 เพราะว่าคนที่กระทำการในหน้าที่ผู้ช่วยได้ดี ก็ได้ตำแหน่งอันมีหน้ามีตา และมีใจกล้าเป็นอันมากในความเชื่อซึ่งมีในพระเยซูคริสต์

3:13 For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.

ทางของพระเจ้าอันยิ่งใหญ่
3:14 ข้อความเหล่านี้ข้าพเจ้าเขียนฝากมายังท่าน หวังใจว่าไม่ช้าไม่นานข้าพเจ้าจะมาหาท่าน

Our Great God
3:14 These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:

3:15 แต่หากว่าข้าพเจ้ามาช้า ท่านก็จะได้รู้ว่าควรประพฤติอย่างไรในครอบครัวของพระเจ้า คือคริสตจักรของพระเจ้าผู้ดำรงพระชนม์ เป็นหลักและรากแห่งความจริง

3:15 But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.

3:16 ทางของพระเจ้าอันยิ่งใหญ่และลึกลับซึ่งไม่มีใครปฏิเสธได้ก็คือ พระเจ้าทรงปรากฏในเนื้อหนัง พระวิญญาณได้ทรงพิสูจน์แล้ว หมู่ทูตสวรรค์ก็เห็น และมีผู้ประกาศพระองค์แก่ชนต่างชาติ มีชาวโลกเชื่อถือพระองค์ และพระองค์ทรงถูกรับขึ้นไปในสง่าราศี

3:16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
