พระเยซูถูกทดลองโดยพญามาร (มก 1:12-13; ลก 4:1-13)
4:1 แล้วพระเยซูทรงถูกนำขึ้นไปโดยพระวิญญาณเข้าไปในถิ่นทุรกันดาร เพื่อจะถูกทดลองโดยพญามาร

Jesus Tempted of Satan (Mark 1:12-13; Luke 4:1-13)
4:1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the devil.

4:2 และเมื่อพระองค์ได้ทรงอดอาหารเป็นเวลาสี่สิบวันและสี่สิบคืนแล้ว หลังจากนั้นพระองค์ก็ทรงหิว

4:2 And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

4:3 และเมื่อผู้ทดลองมาหาพระองค์ มันก็ทูลว่า “ถ้าท่านเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จงสั่งก้อนหินเหล่านี้ให้กลายเป็นอาหารเถิด”

4:3 And when the tempter came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

4:4 แต่พระองค์ทรงตอบและตรัสว่า “มีเขียนไว้แล้วว่า ‘มนุษย์จะมีชีวิตอยู่โดยอาหารอย่างเดียวไม่ได้ แต่โดยพระวจนะทุกคำซึ่งออกมาจากพระโอษฐ์ของพระเจ้า’”

4:4 But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

4:5 แล้วพญามารก็นำพระองค์ขึ้นไปยังนครบริสุทธิ์ และวางพระองค์บนยอดหลังคาอันหนึ่งของพระวิหาร

4:5 Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

4:6 และกล่าวแก่พระองค์ว่า “ถ้าท่านเป็นพระบุตรของพระเจ้า จงทิ้งตัวลงไปเถิด เพราะมีเขียนไว้แล้วว่า ‘พระองค์จะทรงกำชับเหล่าทูตสวรรค์ของพระองค์ในเรื่องท่าน และในมือของพวกเขา เหล่าทูตสวรรค์จะประคองชูท่านไว้ เกรงว่าในเวลาหนึ่งเวลาใดท่านจะกระแทกเท้าของท่านเข้ากับก้อนหิน’”

4:6 And saith unto him, If thou be the Son of God, cast thyself down: for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

4:7 พระเยซูจึงตรัสแก่มันว่า “มีเขียนไว้อีกว่า ‘ท่านอย่าลองดีองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าของท่าน’”

4:7 Jesus said unto him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

4:8 อีกครั้งหนึ่งพญามารก็นำพระองค์ขึ้นไปบนภูเขาลูกหนึ่งที่สูงยิ่งนัก และแสดงบรรดาราชอาณาจักรแห่งแผ่นดินโลก และสง่าราศีของราชอาณาจักรเหล่านั้นให้พระองค์ทอดพระเนตร

4:8 Again, the devil taketh him up into an exceeding high mountain, and sheweth him all the kingdoms of the world, and the glory of them;

4:9 และกล่าวแก่พระองค์ว่า “สิ่งสารพัดเหล่านี้เราจะให้แก่ท่าน ถ้าท่านจะกราบลงและนมัสการเรา”

4:9 And saith unto him, All these things will I give thee, if thou wilt fall down and worship me.

4:10 แล้วพระเยซูตรัสแก่มันว่า “จงไปเสียให้พ้น ซาตาน เพราะมีเขียนไว้แล้วว่า ‘ท่านจงนมัสการองค์พระผู้เป็นเจ้าพระเจ้าของท่าน และท่านจงปรนนิบัติพระองค์แต่ผู้เดียว’”

4:10 Then saith Jesus unto him, Get thee hence, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

4:11 แล้วพญามารจึงละพระองค์ไป และดูเถิด มีเหล่าทูตสวรรค์มาและปรนนิบัติพระองค์

4:11 Then the devil leaveth him, and, behold, angels came and ministered unto him.

พระเยซูทรงประกาศท่ามกลางประชากร (มก 1:14-15; ลก 4:14-15)
4:12 บัดนี้เมื่อพระเยซูทรงได้ยินว่ายอห์นถูกขังไว้อยู่ในคุก พระองค์ก็เสด็จไปยังแคว้นกาลิลี

Jesus Begins His Public Ministry (Mark 1:14-15; Luke 4:14-15)
4:12 Now when Jesus had heard that John was cast into prison, he departed into Galilee;

4:13 และเมื่อออกไปจากเมืองนาซาเร็ธแล้ว พระองค์ก็เสด็จมาและประทับในเมืองคาเปอรนาอุม ซึ่งอยู่ริมชายฝั่งทะเล ในบรรดาเขตแดนแห่งเศบูลุนและนัฟทาลี

4:13 And leaving Nazareth, he came and dwelt in Capernaum, which is upon the sea coast, in the borders of Zabulon and Nephthalim:

4:14 เพื่อสิ่งนี้จะสำเร็จซึ่งถูกกล่าวไว้โดยอิสยาห์ศาสดาพยากรณ์ ซึ่งกล่าวว่า

4:14 That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

4:15 ‘แผ่นดินเศบูลุนและแผ่นดินนัฟทาลี ตามหนทางแห่งทะเล ฟากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนข้างโน้น คือกาลิลีแห่งพวกคนต่างชาติ

4:15 The land of Zabulon, and the land of Nephthalim, by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, Galilee of the Gentiles;

4:16 ประชาชนซึ่งนั่งอยู่ในความมืดได้เห็นความสว่างยิ่งใหญ่แล้ว และสำหรับคนเหล่านั้นซึ่งนั่งอยู่ในแดนและเงาแห่งความตาย ความสว่างได้ผุดขึ้นมาแล้ว’

4:16 The people which sat in darkness saw great light; and to them which sat in the region and shadow of death light is sprung up.

4:17 ตั้งแต่เวลานั้นมาพระเยซูได้ทรงตั้งต้นประกาศ และตรัสว่า “จงกลับใจเสียใหม่ เพราะว่าอาณาจักรแห่งสวรรค์มาใกล้แล้ว”

4:17 From that time Jesus began to preach, and to say, Repent: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

4:18 และพระเยซู เมื่อดำเนินอยู่ข้างทะเลกาลิลี ก็ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพี่น้องสองคน คือซีโมนที่ถูกเรียกว่าเปโตร กับอันดรูว์น้องชายของเขา กำลังทอดอวนอยู่ในทะเล เพราะเขาทั้งสองเป็นชาวประมง

Peter and Andrew Called (Mark 1:16-20; Luke 5:2-11)
4:18 And Jesus, walking by the sea of Galilee, saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers.

4:19 และพระองค์ตรัสกับเขาทั้งสองว่า “จงตามเรามาเถิด และเราจะกระทำพวกท่านให้เป็นชาวประมงผู้จับคน”

4:19 And he saith unto them, Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men.

4:20 และในทันใดนั้น เขาทั้งสองได้ละอวนทั้งหลายของตน และตามพระองค์ไป

4:20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed him.

4:21 และเมื่อเสด็จต่อไปจากที่นั่นแล้ว พระองค์ทอดพระเนตรเห็นพี่น้องอีกสองคน คือยากอบบุตรชายของเศเบดี กับยอห์นน้องชายของเขา อยู่ในเรือลำหนึ่งกับเศเบดีบิดาของเขาทั้งสอง กำลังซ่อมอวนทั้งหลายของตน และพระองค์ได้ทรงเรียกเขาทั้งสอง

James and John Called
4:21 And going on from thence, he saw other two brethren, James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, in a ship with Zebedee their father, mending their nets; and he called them.

4:22 และในทันใดนั้น เขาทั้งสองได้ละเรือและบิดาของตน และตามพระองค์ไป

4:22 And they immediately left the ship and their father, and followed him.

การรับใช้ของพระเยซูในแคว้นกาลิลี
4:23 และพระเยซูได้เสด็จไปตลอดทั่วแคว้นกาลิลี โดยทรงสั่งสอนในบรรดาธรรมศาลาของพวกเขา และทรงประกาศข่าวประเสริฐแห่งอาณาจักรนั้น และทรงรักษาความเจ็บป่วยทุกประเภทและโรคภัยทุกชนิดในท่ามกลางประชากรให้หาย

Ministry of Jesus in Galilee
4:23 And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness and all manner of disease among the people.

4:24 และชื่อเสียงของพระองค์ก็เลื่องลือไปตลอดทั่วประเทศซีเรีย และพวกเขาได้พาบรรดาคนป่วยมาหาพระองค์ ที่เป็นโรคต่าง ๆ และมีความทรมานหลายอย่าง และคนเหล่านั้นซึ่งมีพวกผีเข้าสิง และคนเหล่านั้นซึ่งเป็นบ้า และคนเหล่านั้นที่เป็นอัมพาต และพระองค์ทรงรักษาพวกเขาให้หาย

4:24 And his fame went throughout all Syria: and they brought unto him all sick people that were taken with divers diseases and torments, and those which were possessed with devils, and those which were lunatick, and those that had the palsy; and he healed them.

4:25 และมีประชาชนเป็นอันมากที่ติดตามพระองค์ไป จากแคว้นกาลิลี และจากแคว้นทศบุรี และจากกรุงเยรูซาเล็ม และจากแคว้นยูเดีย และจากแม่น้ำจอร์แดนฟากข้างโน้น

4:25 And there followed him great multitudes of people from Galilee, and from Decapolis, and from Jerusalem, and from Judaea, and from beyond Jordan.
